Grease is a shy, aloof, and unassuming dog. It is this volunteers guess that he received very little personal attention prior to his arriving at the shelter. He was picked up as a stray and arrived with a skin condition, which might be a turn-off when you first see him. But what a sweet and handsome boy! He has a beseeching face and it can break your heart, knowing that his physical condition might be getting in the way of his adoption. His legs and lower torso are scarred and discolored but there are no health-related issues. And oh, what a face! Grease is a very sweet dog. He loves his walks and will call out from the play yard that it is his turn! He walks well with other dogs and shows zero dog aggression. He can spend time in the play yard with other friendly dogs who sometimes try to engage him in play but he shows little interest. Grease needs to receive consistent assurance and lots of TLC so he can begin to expect and then seek individual attention. He will SIT on command for treats; treats could be the key to his heart because he will come back for more. He enjoys being stroked and will make eye contact, but it is hard for him to stand still for long as he is not accustomed to one-on-one attetion. He does like it though and needs to receive more of it. Recently we took an outing to the City Park where kids are attending a summer camp. They were soon upon us asking if they could pet the dog. Grease allowed them to pet him , and he didn't quite know how to react to all the fawning and personal attention. He needs to have more of these kinds of expereiences. He did seem to enjoy being in a new environment and it was a positive experience. He rode in the car well both to and from and had no startle or fear response to anyone or any activity encountered while on the outing. This dog is very gentle and sweet. He would be a low-maintenance companion and I believe he is a diamond in the rough. Hopefully someone will see his inner-beauty, rescue him from the shelter and nurture him into the loving family pet we know he will be. Grease is neutered and ready to go. Please Sponsor Me.
